I follow rivers (James)

Luna had been getting her first little bit of practice in for the year. She spent her summer touring with her uncle all the Quididtch stadiums getting ideas. She was ready and wanted to show off to Mackenzie who didn’t earn her spot as Captain in Luna’s book. She had her new Nimbus 3000 and began riding around the pitch she had Catalina in the stands watching her and helping her figure things out.

Cat tagged along everything she did, and was her best friend.

She looked at Catalina, “Are you paying attention?”

Cat didn’t understand why Luna had her going everywhere with her. It made no sense like she had better things to do, but her best friends need eyes. She had oblige, and when Luna got on her broom she got caught up in her crystal. Hearing Luna’s command she looked up. “I said I would come and watch.”

Even though she’d rather be other places, but she loved Luna. Although it didn’t mean she had to watch everything. But she wasn’t allowed in attendance at Slytherin practices.

After some deliberation on the train, James made the impulsive decision to rejoin the quidditch team. He got the idea that perhaps people wouldn't bug the media as much about him if he went back to doing what was expected for the Potter heir. Quidditch was high up on the list, and he still flew often enough to be passable on the pitch. He headed to the pitch with his broom, top-of-the-line but a couple years outdated, to get himself refamiliarized with the pitch as a player than a spectator.

He made it onto the pitch to see it was already occupied by Luna and her friend Cat. Since he had nothing better to do, James sat down to watch Luna's skills. It had been a while since he spent his free time like this.

Luna knew Cat had a tenancy to be in her own world half the time. She looked at her best friend. “You are on your crystal.” she said giving her best friend a look. Cat had been more of a friend than some of her teammates were and the worst part they had been placed in different houses. She had spotted a familiar face, “Potter? Did you stray away from your usual friends. Maybe you can sit by Cat and keep her off her phone.” she commented.

She began doing laps around the pitch. She loved showing off her new room.

"Nah, I'm just here to, er, practice," James replied. No matter how much he tried, it was near impossible for people to not notice him. He knew every witch and wizard in Britain could identify him by the shade of his hair alone, but it did get irritating to not be able to simply move around in peace.

He scratched the back of his neck as he glanced up at Luna. "I dunno if Cat's heard, but I'm rejoining the team."

Cat had failed to mention the recent rumors, and she looked over at James. "Yeah, and I am pretty sure the only reason for why you were welcome is because Emery needs people." she commented. She looked at Luna giving her a smile, "I'm supporting Luna."

Luna had to admit she was shocked to hear about James rejoining the team. "I thought you were all about getting rid of the Potter name? Being your own person." she commented. She always knew Albus to be the prodigal son of the Potter clan.

Shrugging, James replied, "Cat, I'm bloody good at flyin', y'know! I was the seeker!" He would boast about how he was on the team before Emery attended, but that wouldn't really help his argument. "I just thought that maybe, it, er wouldn't hurt to play again. I heard it'd look good on resumes..."

That wasn't believable since his surname happened to be Potter, but it was more respectable than I rejoined just because.

"What position are ya, Luna? I wanna see your moves."

Luna was fascinated that James was rejoining the Quidditch team, but she struck him as serious. She rolled her eyes at his egging on, she loved to give people a good show. She got on her broom, and conjured up a few dance partners, and began showing her latest move, where she scored a goal. 

She rolled her eyes at Cat, "Mind her, she likes to poke fun. I'm chaser."

Cat never thought James took things seriously, but he was good looking. "Oh you were seeker until you quit because you wanted to distance yourself." she commented. She had sat in the stands crossing her arms, and watching Luna show off, and she was adept. "Luna loves to show off."

"I quit 'cause I wanted to do something different for a while, that ain't a crime!"

Another part that came with being James Sirius Potter that he hated was that it felt like the entire world felt compelled to interrogate him about everything. They would ask about anything from family secrets to how long he usually spends on the loo. Whatever could be used to make a headline. It was irritating, but he got better at keeping his cool. For the most part.

It wasn't a good look if he lost his temper over his privacy being invaded.

James moved to another part of the pitch to get a better look at Luna and so he wouldn't have to strain his voice as much. Very practical reasons. He had to know who'd be up against during matches. "Emery's the seeker, so I'm tryin' out to be a chaser. Somethin' different." He licked his lips as he kept his eye on Luna. "Does she?" he asked Cat, leaning his broom against the wall of the pitch.

Luna had loved when people watched her play, and she liked to put a good show on. She knew that she had a lot to compete with the legacies in Slytherin, so she had Quidditch. She knew that James was probably going to figure something out, but she was having fun. She flew on her broom, and she had looked at James who was eyeing her. "Impressed, enough?"


She didn't need the Potter's approval. "What the change of heart, Potter?"

Cat had been listening to Potter going on about his position. "Looks like Luna might have a prodigy, if she wishes to help the competitors." she chuckled. She had nothing against Potter, but she felt like he was a bit of a slacker who didn't stick with anything. 

"Luna you should teach James. Just don't tell Riddle."


@James Potter

Biting his lip as he watched her, James answered, "Yeah, I'm gettin' a great view from down here. Why don't ya keep doin' it?"

The flirting was a lot more natural than his attempt with Alayna on the train, but it was probably because they actually had quidditch to discuss. When it came to Alayna, he was simply trying to dodge receiving a detention before even making it to the castle.

"So, uh, how long have ya been playing?"

They were in the same year; this was something he should already know.

Luna had looked down at James, and knew he was flirting with her. She didn't mind, even if she didn't imagine herself dating James. She looked at him, "I am sure you are undressing me in your head." she commented as that what most boys liked to do with girls. 

She finally got tired and made her way off her broom, "I been playing since my second year."

Cat kind of figured James had been flirting, and trying to hide her annoyance. She knew that kid loved to flirt and she sat in the stands trying to avoid the scene. It was gross and not her thing, "Do you flirt with every girl you come in contact with?" 

She kind of figured with his namesake.

"When did ya join the team? I, er, only played a year and a half 'til now... So I dunno how much it's changed since last time I played, y'know...."

There was something about Luna that was drawing his attention in a way the vast majority of broads didn't. It was quite odd.

Turning to Cat, James rolled his eyes and spat out, "I don't flirt with every bloody bird I see! Do ya think I'd wanna go down on the screechy Lestrange?"

Luna looked at James with a bit of confusion, "I joined the team in my second year." she commented. She thought her saying she'd been playing. "I haven't left the team since."


"I am not a fan of my captain, I will say."


She knew that it would probably get back to Mackenzie, but she didn't care. She looked at James with a smirk on her face. "Did I manage to charm a Potter?"

Cat really didn't understand why Luna had flirt with every guy. She just sat there and rolled her eyes, she had looked at him. "Well yeah she is ugly. I don't get why people like her."

Why did people like half of Slytherin house. 

"I don't play Quidditch and never will." she commented, knowing it was probably not aimed towards her, but she liked being the center of attention.

"Ah, right, er, yeah!"

Perhaps he should've paid more attention to the quidditch rosters the past couple of terms. Avoiding most matches was kicking him in the arse. All so he could avoid being asked why he quit in the first place. James scratched his neck sheepishly when he was asked if she managed to charm him.

Fuck.

Normally that's his line!

"They like her 'cause her dad's the headmaster. Y'know, I dunno why those posh pricks align with 'em so much 'cause they're not purebloods."

He rolled his eyes. Did Cat seriously think he wanted to talk to her?

Luna knew why everyone loved Mackenzie, because her father was headmaster. She had privlege and sure Luna came from a popular family. She let out a bit of a chuckle, "I am pretty the fact her grandfather or uncle is Voldemort probably contributes. Who wants him coming back." she commented. 

She sure as hell didn't want him coming back.

She looked at James with a little bit of a smile, "Am I making you blush?"  She crossed her arms giving him a bit of a smile. "What broom you going to ride?" 


She ignored Cat for a little bit to focus on James.

Cat had been used to Luna flirting with guys in front of her, and she just watched. "Are you guys even each other types." she commented. This was annoying, she picked up on a lot.

"Mackenzie probably fucked her way up to the top." 


She also looked at James, "If your going to play Quidditch, you need to read the roster, doesn't Emery send you all a roster or something."

James snorted. "Well, they're gonna be fuckin' pissed that he won't ever come back."

He loathed the expectation to live up to Harry, but he wouldn't be born if he didn't defeat Voldie; it was something that would always stick with him. Voldie's demise was the one reason he existed in the first place.

"Er, yeah. A bit!" Merlin, what was he going to do with himself if a broad managed to make him feel so flustered? How could this be happening? Usually he was the woo-er with nothing on his end!

He also ignored Cat; James had to not show that her comment about types didn't dig into his skin.

"I'm gonna ride my Firebolt 3500 Elite."

Luna gave Cat a bit of a cool it look, and she watched as Catalina rolled her eyes. She loved her best friend, but she could be very annoying at times. They all loved each other very dearly, and she put her attention on James who she knew was flirting with her. 

"You tell Mackenzie that. The dead don't rise again." she commented. 


She didn't believe they were coming back and that it was time to move forward. New villains were going to rise and people should respect that. "The Firebolt? I kinda figured the Potters were Firebolts lovers." she said as if they created those brooms.

"Cat, don't you have studying to do?"

Cat was in complete shock right now when Luna was ditching her out for Potter. "You literally made me come out while I was enjoying listening to the radio." she commented. This was not okay in the slightest, but she knew Luna liked her alone time.

"I have people to find, and a Glee club to plan." she commented. She left and was going to find someone else to pester, she had no clue of Luna's plan.
