• Bijou's family have been hunters since way back. Many generations have passed down the lifestyle from parent to child and it had just become a way of life for the Dubois family. It was just what they did. They hunted those who were different than them because they thought them to be dangerous. They tortured those they hunted for information on the whereabouts of others like them. It always made Bijou sick.
  
• Bijou has been trained to be a weapon from the time she was a very young child. They hunted vampires and only the strongest, most experienced hunters would survive. Vampires were killers, after all. That was what her family told her. And she knew that many of them that they hunted were killers but she always held out hope that they couldn't all be bad. She would never say as much, though. Her family was fanatical and she feared if she went against them that they would kill her too.
  
• All of her life she had dreamt of being free of her family and their expectations of her but it wasn't until she made a connection with one of their prisoners that she finally broke free. They had kept him for months, putting him through any kind of pain they could but he had refused to talk. Bijou had seen something in him, she had snuck in when her parents didn't know to bring him food, blood bags that she snuck out and bought from a shady little shop her parents would scold her for even stepping foot in. And when the opportunity came, she helped him to escape.
