It wasn't unusual for James to disappear after dinner from time to time. It was also unusual for him to return home undetected in the middle of the night when everyone was asleep. Sure, there was slightly more trust in him now that he was eighteen, over legal age, but he still felt the need to sneak out and do whatever. It had become a part of his habits four years ago during the summertime, even if he had no idea where he was going to go.

This time, he had cheated on his boyfriend with his ex-boyfriend that he had cheated on to get with the current boyfriend. Awkward. Messy. What was wrong with him? Why couldn't he just make good decisions like Al? At least Al's biggest concern was doing well enough to pursue law years from now. Meanwhile, James slagged around, smoked, wrote music, partake in risky behaviors. and moped around when he wasn't stuck doing something. It was a pretty pathetic way to spend his time, but he struggled to get out of that rut. It was miraculous he managed to even draft a speech for Louis' wedding.

He didn't even know what time it was. He could just tell it was still dark out with the exception of the moonlight. It was a good thing he wasn't too drowsy since he almost missed the chance of catching the Knight Bus home. James almost swore he was having a bad trip despite his waning high from the almost-empty stash he had been going through. Once in the back end of the yard, James dug through a certain bush and retrieved the long rope he used to return to his room. He wasn't smart enough to invest in a ladder.

Aimlessly, he used his wand to open a window he assumed was his and then used it to get him and the rope up into the room. The rope formed a grapple and quickly pulled him up into the bedroom. Once he was inside, the rope returned to the ground and he slammed the window. He could hardly see the room, but it certainly didn't smell like his.

Maybe if he tip-toed...

Gabby didn't sleep much these days. She missed the days when she could sleep so soundly without a care in the world. Back when her life was as she had always known it to be and she didn't have her father's (or who she thought was her father) death resting solely on her shoulders. Maybe he was a bad man, but he had been the only father she had known her entire life. And he had been a good father. She had been deeply upset to find out that he had been killed in the whole attack that had left the rest of her family imprisoned. She hated knowing that those she thought of as her family were just rotting in some cell. Well... Aside from Matilda, she could rot for what she had done to Aquila.

She was laying in her bedroom, staring up at the darkened ceiling when all of a sudden her window crept open. The first thing she did was reach for her wand. She couldn't be too careful when she had ultimately been the one who had led the Ministry to the place where the prisoners had been kept and where the DEs had been congregating. It would make sense that they would want to come after her. They couldn't all have been captured, after all. There had to have been a few who had slipped through the cracks.

Her heart was beating in her chest as the rope was thrown into the window. That was unexpected... She had thought that someone looking to kill her would be a little more sneaky. They had to realize that she would be on edge, even after this long? She nearly shot a curse at the person coming in through her window until she realized that it wasn't some rogue death eater coming to kill her but instead it was just James sneaking in. Sure, she knew he snuck in and out of the house, but why in the world would he be sneaking in through her window and not his own?

He slammed the window shut and she cleared her throat as she sat up in her bed. "You know, I could have just killed you, right?" And she would have. She was not going to let anyone get the chance to harm her. She only had herself to depend on. Even if her new family tried to be there for her, she still wasn't quite sure where she fit in with them. She was a bit of an outsider. At least, that was how she still thought of herself.

"Um, I don't know..." This was even more awkward than the predicament that led to this. At least he didn't catch his own twin naked or anything. That would've been even more awful, and he would've been puking right out of the window.

He really should've aimed his rope better... At least it would've beem no big deal if he landed in Al's room by mistake.

"I already feel enough shame being born me."

James loved his family, but being the Potter heir wasn't the most lucrative thing to be except in ter of fame. "Uh, I just got off the Knight Bus." It was obvious by his less-than-par coordination and disheveled appearance.

He felt very awkward currently. Sure, they wete in a womb together and had some of the same classes, but James wasn't familiar with her the way he was with Al and Lily.

"I hope you don't mind the smell." James didn't shower before leaving. In fact, he was planning on doing just that until he inadvertently made a detour to his twin's room.
