Community spirit (Mackenzie, open)

As part of a new scheme to tidy up the more rustic edges of Hogsmeade, the council had decided to make a community garden beside the Shrieking Shack. There were plans to renovate the old shack as well, since it was pretty much public knowledge nowadays that it wasn’t haunted at all. That was for another time, though.

Fred was working on the garden with a bit of spare time that he had. He wanted it to be something he could say in his appeal to get a wand, that he’d given back to the community.

There were a lot of Ministry personnel around though for just a community project... why was that? They seemed to be escorting someone as well. Fred looked up, and saw who it was: Mackenzie Riddle.

Mackenzie couldnt believe this was how she had to spend her Saturday. Gardening. With peasants like Fred Weasley. She looked him up and down with distaste when she was escorted over to him and sneered, "Let's get this stupidity over with. Luckily I need to touch up my manicure anyway. Lucinda is going to have a field day with my cuticles."

Fred looked at her, and narrowed his gaze.

Maybe now that she wasn't technically a student, he could speak his mind. He didn't want to draw attention to himself from the Ministry officials keeping an eye on her, so he couldn't be too extreme. Plus, as much as he didn't view her as such, she was still just a kid.

"I can't believe you got away with just a suspension," He said bitterly, "Like the rest of ya family, you slither away from an actual punishment. If it were up to me, I'd have ya expelled. Or worse."

"Awwww is poor Weasley upset the 15 year old didnt end up in azkaban?" She said, mocking him with a fake pout and a few fake sniffles, "Well suck it up you think I want to fucking be here? I'd rather jab my eyes out with a fork than dig in the dirt for days on end."

"As long as you're not enjoyin' it, I'm pretty happy."

He stood up and wheeled a wheelbarrow around to her.

"Why don't ya take this and go 'round to the horses. We need some fresh manure on the spot over there."

He nodded over to the bit where they had already planted, and couldn't help smirking a little at her. This was brilliant.

Mackenzie glared at Weasley then at the wheelbarrow, "Youre lucky I dont have my wand. Or I'd make you eat it." She snarled before taking the wheelbarrow over to the spot, "I'm not touching that with my hands. I'll need a shovel or something." She said placing both hands on her hips.

"There's one over there," He nodded over to it, smirking. "Make sure you get quite a bit. Don't envy you, though. Takes a while for that stink to leave ya."

He tipped his hat at her, grinning.

Mackenzie grabbed the shovel and took a big scoop from the wheelbarrow. She smirked, happy it wasnt too heavy, and tossed it over her shoulder, smiling when it landed on Fred, "Oops. Too bad about the smell problem, huh? Not like many females will get close enough to smell you? Didnt you just lose your virginity?" The gossip wheel of Hogwarts did have its benefits at times.

Fred saw her heaving the shovel over her shoulder. He dodged the poop. Well, most of it. Some splattered over his boots, but he just kicked it off like it was a bit of grass.

What she said did annoy him, but he tried very hard to keep his cool.

"Do ya want time added to your service hours?" He jabbed his thumb over his shoulder at the Ministry personnel "'Cause I can easily ask these guys to sort that out for ya."

Mackenzie glared at him and rolled her eyes. She didnt need more time added onto her punishment. That would just piss her father off. She would have to talk to him about this stupid oaf of a man. She muttered under her breath as she filled the area with the disgusting smelling stuff, "Cant wait to torture you first."

"What was that?" He looked up, having gone back to planting some tomatoes. "Torture? Ya wanna be locked away for real then, do ya?'

She was surprised he had been able to hear her she had to cover her ass quick, "You know, hearing voices is the first sign of the mentally insane. I didnt say anything. Maybe you should be off to St Mungos instead of here making my life hell." She said as whe cintubed to scoop the manure.

"Nah," He said, laughing, pretending to think about it for a bit. "I'd much rather stay here and watch ya shovel shit. This would be a picture to show to ya Dad, actually."

Fred took out his crystal.

"Call Lochlan Riddle." He said to it, smirking. He had his work crystal contact, but just never used it. Lochlan immediately rejected his call, and Fred frowned. "Prick..." he muttered, but then looked at Mackenzie. He wanted to play with her a bit.

"Oh hi, Lochlan. Just me," he said, pretending the call had gone through. "Yeah I got ya on private mode so she can't see or hear ya, but I got ya daughter here doin' some great work for our community." He smirked, sitting on a bench and kicking back for a bit, eating some chocolate in his pocket. "Yeah - that's right. That's literal shit she's busy with there, mate."

He grinned at Mackenzie, holding his crystal. "Wanna give a pose for Daddy, Kenz?"

He wished James was here to relish in this.

Mackenzie could feel her blood start to boil as she got more and more angry. How dare that pathetic excuse of a drop out make fun of her? She tried to keep her cool but felt the anger start to overwhelm her. She threw the shovel down and marched over to him, "If that's. My father let me speak to him. He wouldnt answer the likes of you. So stop bullshitting and get off your drop out, no wand, cant land a woman to save his life, smelling like the bottom of a shoe ass and do something besides sitting there gaining more weight than you need. Speaking of, it wouldn't kill you to lose a few pounds and lose the beer belly gut you think is so attractive. News flash, ITS NOT!" Mackenzie had officially popped off.

It was good to see Mackenzie losing it. He grinned widely when she went up to him, wailing like a banshee at him. He just put his hands behind his head and stretched out, relaxing. He laughed at her, and pocketed his crystal. The insults went over his head.

“Hmm - no, thanks. Think I’ll stay ‘ere. I’m on break.”

He shifted to get comfortable.

“Better hop to it, or they’ll get ya for anti-social behaviour.”
